VERY RARE heirloom variety that originated in Kazakhstan. Big plump cloves and high sugars make this variety a favorite for roasting. Maintains its garlic flavor extremely well in cooked culinary applications. Averages 5 plump cloves per bulb.

Often referred to as "Russian Penicillin" this variety was originally located in a farmers market in Moscow, Russia. Bogatyr garlic is known for its fiery, raw heat that diminishes quickly to a mild and pleasant flavor. We recommend this variety for garlic & honey fermentation. Consistently produces 4-6 large bulbs/cloves and is known for storing well.
