About Marbled Purple Stripe…
Marbled Purple Stripe are home to some of our favorite varieties and whats not to love about large bulbs with HUGE cloves that peel easily and have robust flavors. Exceptional winter hardiness with a large, sturdy, upright plant habit with strong scaping characteristics. These varieties are a great choice for processing into dried powders, slices and nuggets because of their fat, plump easy to peel cloves. If you enjoy Black Garlic you’ll be hard pressed to find better options, especially with higher solids than most varieties. Simply put, if you process large quantities of garlic you’ll want o find your favorite Marbled Purple Stripe to do so. Bulbs have strong outer wrappers and store well in proper conditions. Named for a town near the Austrian border. Excellent roaster with high sugars. Very easy to pop for planting and peel for cooking. Sweet garlic flavor when used in baked dishes and stir fry’s. Good storage variety with approximately 4-5 big plump cloves.

Good roaster with solid overall flavor and depth of sweetness when cooked. The flavor is fairly hot with a lingering pungency that mellows nicely when roasted. Easy to pop/peel make this variety a favorite of the home cook. Approximately 6-8 big cloves per bulb.

VERY RARE heirloom variety that originated in Kazakhstan. Big plump cloves and high sugars make this variety a favorite for roasting. Maintains its garlic flavor extremely well in cooked culinary applications. Averages 5 plump cloves per bulb.

Often referred to as "Russian Penicillin" this variety was originally located in a farmers market in Moscow, Russia. Bogatyr garlic is known for its fiery, raw heat that diminishes quickly to a mild and pleasant flavor. We recommend this variety for garlic & honey fermentation. Consistently produces 4-6 large bulbs/cloves and is known for storing well.

Northe is a SUPER EARLY variety, consistently one of the first to scape and harvest every year, defying the normal growth patterns and schedule for similar subgroup varieties. If you can’t wait for scapes each year this variety is for you. Originally from the USDA Agricultural Research Center in Beltsville Maryland.
